SATANIC STRATEGY - PART X

By Douglas C. Nesbit, B.A.

Our ongoing series of Bible Studies, which began with the Call by The Almighty God to Abram in Ur of the Chaldees, in Genesis 12, has taken us through the sequence of subsequent Biblical passages which relate the family history of the generations of the Patriarchs and tribes of his progeny as they entered Egypt, and later emerged into Sinai through the miracles of The Exodus, heading eventually towards their Promised Land under the guidance of Moses and the direction of The Almighty God.

Consideration of the Levitical cities of refuge which were to be appointed in The Promised Land brought up a discussion regarding guilt, and hence a discussion of Satan, himself, whose name means "the adversary" or "the accuser."

Satan has great aspirations, and a comprehensive knowledge of God's Law. He has stated: "I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High."

As we have explained on former Studies in this particular sequence, in order to accomplish this, Satan has drafted a legal plan as the basis of the strategy which he is following in seeking to evade God's Judgment. Realising that the charges against him include using lies and murder, he is limited to one main legal strategy. He must cause God, The Judge to withdraw from the seat of Judgment, a legal possibility which might occur should God be presented with a predicament in which He has undertaken an unconditional commitment to some portion of mankind which He cannot fulfil. The Bible holds many such unconditional commitments of The Almighty, and all such statements will in consequence be subject to Satanic interference and attack in his attempts to evade his fate. Should God fail to fulfil any single such commitment to any part of mankind, God will have told a lie. If God fails to bring everything to pass as He has stated, He cannot thereafter retain the moral authority to judge another on the same charge. Satan is desperately assailing all facets of the legal possibility. He seeks to ruin at least one of God's unfolding steps leading to the establishment upon the earth of the Kingdom of Heaven.

As we previously discovered, in seeking to disrupt the advent of that Kingdom, Satan has four sub-targets, namely Monarch, Citizenry, The Code of Law forming an agreement between these, and the Domain free of alien interference where it functions. Today, we are looking at the end of the first aspect, Satan's attacks on The Monarchy, which was promised to Abraham and Sarah, and was established from the reign of King Saul, and then passed over to King David, and we will then in the next study move on to consider the second target, the citizenry of the present seed-bed of the forthcoming Kingdom of God on the Earth.

A lineage of descendants from King David must not cease to rule somewhere on this earth, if God's commitments to him in Jeremiah 33 are to be upheld. Jeremiah 33:17-22 states:

17. For thus saith the LORD; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;
18. Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle meat offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.
19. And the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, saying,
20. Thus saith the LORD; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season;
21. Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.
22. As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.

Now a Throne can not functionally continue in existence without a Monarch to occupy it. It is for that reason that in British usage the public proclamation at the passing of the Monarch, "The King is dead" is, in the same breath immediately followed by the words which proclaim the successor of the lineage, "Long Live The King." Those who suggest that the wording of God's Covenant merely indicated that David would never lack some progeny capable of serving as a monarch, seem to miss the vital point which is found in the promise. David was given assurance of continuing occupancy of a throne in II Samuel 7:16 which states "And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever." Notice that the words "house", meaning his progeny, and also his "kingdom" and his "throne" are each mentioned separately, as being established "for ever before thee." This is not only a covenant providing for a continuous line of descent (his "house") capable of occupying a throne, but of the throne's unbroken continuity over some segment at least, of the kingdom of Israel. It had to continue, for Mary was promised that Jesus would eventually be given the same throne, which, as we can now see, must occur at the time of His Second Advent, for he was not granted it at the First Advent.

Satan, then, will attempt to sever David's lineage of monarchy, and this was not only true in the time of David's own life, but in the lives of subsequent monarchs, most notably in the reign of King Zedekiah, when Nebuchadnezzar captured him, let him see the execution of all his male heirs, and then blinded him and brought him in fetters to Babylon.

In this connection, in Numbers 27:1-8 we find a very significant appeal by the daughters of Zelophehad before Moses, which gave rise to a general Law for Israel from The Almighty. We find that Law in Numbers 27:8-11: "And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter. And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren. And if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father's brethren. And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of judgment, as the LORD commanded Moses."

Now it is evident that Nebuchadnezzar assumed that he had totally abolished the Monarchy in Israel, when he killed all of Zedekiah's sons. Nebuchadnezzar was apparently unaware that, unlike the provisions of the laws in his own and many other nations of that day, Israel's Monarchy would, in accordance with that law found in the Book of Numbers, devolve upon Zedekiah's daughters, the eldest of whom thus became the Seed-Royal of the Davidic line. If that did not happen, then Satan would have achieved his purpose, and evaded his own judgment. It thus becomes essential to realise that this eldest daughter, who had remained in the care of Jeremiah when the city of Jerusalem fell, must, as soon as convenient, be removed from the scene of Biblical record to another land where David's Monarchy could continue to reign over some portion of an Israel people. It would appear that Ezekiel's Riddle, in Ezekiel 17 gives the Biblical clue to what happened. Speaking of two contending "great eagles", God goes on to give the interpretation of these as Babylon and Egypt, and God then explains what will happen. However, God Himself will also take a "tender twig" cropped from the top of the cedar tree (emblematic of the Royal House of Judah) to plant it in another land which is composed of Israelites of the Northern House of Israel, to whom this parable is addressed. This disappearance of the Princess Royal from the Biblical record in Judah necessitates that we search elsewhere for her arrival in some strong Israelite colony beyond the reach of Babylon. It corresponds to the appearance of such a royal party in Ireland at about the same year. Israelites had been trading between Palestine and Ireland for years, as attested by Irish gold ornaments conveyed in trade between the two localities, and found at Gaza, in Palestine. There is ancient lore which speaks of the arrival of an Eastern Princess named Tamar or Tea Tephi, in the care of a great Prophet and accompanied by The Stone of Destiny called Lia Fail, and other articles which speak of heritage and continuity, at Tara, in Ireland, as discoursed in the account of The Rev. W. M. H. Milner, M.A., in his work "The Royal House of Britain - An Enduring Dynasty."

From that Princess who, at the moment when her father finally died would inherit the monarchy over Israel, the Genealogies list descent of Irish, Scottish and later British and related Monarchies.

We shall proceed on the next study to examine the attacks which Satan is making upon the second component of The Kingdom of God, namely the Citizenry of The Kingdom, who are the physical descendants of the Patriarchs. It is these whom Satan wishes to attack and destroy in particular, because it is by developing and using this line of descent, these children of Israel, that the Word of The Almighty specifies that the nucleus seed-bed of the emerging basis of God's Kingdom upon this earth is covenanted to be developed by God, here to displace Satan's rule over the earth.

SATANIC STRATEGY - PART XI

He must cause God, The Judge to withdraw from the seat of Judgment, a legal possibility which might occur should God have undertaken an unconditional commitment to some portion of mankind which He cannot fulfil. The Bible holds many such unconditional commitments of The Almighty, and all such statements will in consequence be subject to Satanic interference and attack in his attempts to evade his fate. Should God fail to fulfil in its entirety any single such commitment to any part of mankind, God will have told a lie. If God fails to bring everything to pass as He has stated, He cannot thereafter retain the moral authority to judge another on the same charge. Satan is desperately assailing all facets of that legal possibility. He seeks to ruin at least one of God's unfolding steps leading to the establishment of the Kingdom of Heaven upon the earth.

As we previously discovered, in seeking to disrupt the advent of that Kingdom, Satan has four sub-targets, namely Monarch, Citizenry, The Code of Law forming an agreement between these, and the Domain free of alien interference where it functions. Today, we are looking at the start of that second aspect, namely Satan's attacks on The Citizenry, which is one facet of the multiple covenants made to The Patriarchs. Subsequent prophecies confirm their eventual reality as the Kingdom of God is built here, under the mighty hand of The God of all the earth.

We might, before saying more concerning Satan's strategy in the matter, make a clarification concerning something which Christ said in Luke 17:20-21, verses which record these words in the AV: "And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for behold the kingdom of God is within you." The margin, and the New Revised Standard Version render."within" as "among you", or and as shown in the Revised Standard Version, "in the midst of you." The Greek word, entos means "inside", but the first meaning in the definition by Strong's Concordance indicates the meaning as "in the midst of you." Christ was certainly not telling those who opposed Him that they had the kingdom of God within their souls. Christ and His disciples were gathered in the midst of the opponents.

If Satan is to interfere with the unfolding of God's promises concerning the citizens of His Kingdom, then there are a number of lines of attack, all of which Satan will pursue. Some of these will involve the literal diminishing of the population of Israel to a point which precludes any outworking of the promises of God through sheer loss of numbers in premature death.

We might think, first of individual deaths induced among the target progeny by propaganda which sends the message to the modern-day descendants of the Patriarchs of Israel that killing their babies before they can be born or the use of the "pill" before or after sex which effects the same result, is acceptable because it frees the women to enjoy life without responsibility of caring for children. That is simply a sophisticated up-date on Pharaoh's command to kill all the male children of Israel in the days of Egyptian bondage wherein Moses was born, exchanging the Pharaonic command for a more "democratic" equivalent. An amazingly large fraction of all potential births are thus prevented, and aging population cohorts form an ever larger proportion of the whole population. This, in turn, is made the economic excuse for importing multicult masses from distant lands as a substitute for those children, missing from the younger population cohorts of the Israel peoples. The result must certainly be pleasing to Satan for its end result is that the populace which descended from Israel will be supplanted by a generation of those who cannot claim that distinction. Some will not see why it has any importance. It does, for this reason: God's covenant is being subverted thereby, and Satan is a step nearer to being freed from judgment. Moreover, multicult advocates and engineers are facilitators of the planned advances towards world-government, and this also provides another facet of Satan's attack for it compromises the assigned sovereign preserves wherein God's Israel Laws can operate.

The promotion of toxic habit-forming tobacco as a mark of social maturity among the youth takes a bit longer, but the cancers attributed thereto will no doubt be assessed in God's ultimate judgment upon us. To that we can add toxicity in food preservation, and indeed also the false unscriptural teaching which dismisses God's laws concerning the foods permitted to His people. Another inducement which pleases Satan is the sin which was rampant in Sodom, for it prevented offspring from being born, and deadly diseases to afflict the race in those organs of the human body which ought to be most holy to the preservation of the sanctity of marriage and reproduction.

Then we can add to the list those perpetual wars wherein Israel tribes were drawn by lies, covetousness and stimulated pride, into conflicts among themselves, and likewise against other peoples. Every youth who died in every war in which Israel's descendants were participants was one less person to propagate their potential offspring. When they fell, there fell at that instant all the generations implicit within their loins. How many war-widows, down through the centuries, have wept their silent years towards lonely infirmity and death because they were deprived of a family which was never born due to such induced savagery? In all these Satan saw his hopes advanced.

Other lines of approach may be more subtle. For example, God cannot substitute an ungodly mixed multitude, like that which came along with Israel when they emerged out of Egypt in the Exodus, as the promised progeny from the loins of those Patriarchs whose fleshly descendants were to be expanded to fill that role. That such a development is definitely excluded we can determine at once by reference to the events which happened in the Sinai Wilderness wherein those of the mixed multitude were among the rebellious and an hindrance to Moses. We also remember that as Israel approached the lands of the Midianites and Moabites when nearing The Promised Land, the Midianitish women seduced many of the young men of Israel who were executed or died in a plague (Numbers 25:1-9). Satan will find new ways of repeating the theme even now by manipulations of immigration targets and infusions under the pressure of what is termed "politically correct thinking." We ought not to be surprised that tensions are aroused in those who are conscious of the Satanic implications in mis-guided policies of governments which think multicult is beautiful, but the alternative is not.

Satan has yet another trick to turn, perhaps more deadly than the rest. He knows God's Divine Law, and he sees therein opportunity to further increase the casualty lists in Israel. For certain sins, the penalty is execution. Indeed we are told in Romans 6:23 that "the wages of sin is death." Here, Satan can apply the law found in Deuteronomy 17:6 which says "At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death, but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death." We find the same law concerning a witness in Deuteronomy 19:15, and likewise, in its essence, in Matthew 18:16 and II Corinthians 13:1. Satan is not called by his name, which means "adversary", or, in Young's Concordance, "hater, accuser", for nothing! He will participate in a truthful accusation before God if it will advance his cause. Consider the account in I Chronicles 21:1-16 wherein "Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel." Exodus 30:11-16 gives the Law of numbering of the warriors in the nation. Every person was to give a half shekel atonement for their soul when numbered, but David neglected to collect that money, with the consequence that seventy-thousand died by a pestilence sent by an angel of The LORD. If Sin brings death, and all mankind have sinned, then as a consequence, all those descendants of Israel will perish in death. How, then, can God fulfil his promises to the Patriarchs? The answer is simple to state, but terrifyingly profound in its implications. God, in Christ, must supply the redeeming death in Himself, and bond willing Israelites into that death as part of His Body, so that Israel can live with Christ Resurrected to fulfil the promise of God! thus was Christ sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. That was God's provision of "the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world" (Revelation 13:8). Thus was Satan thwarted in perhaps the most deadly thrust of his whole strategy.

We shall see how the rest of Satan's strategy is being played out in subsequent Bible Studies.

SATANIC STRATEGY - PART XII

By Douglas C. Nesbit, B.A.

Our ongoing series of Bible Studies, which began with the Call by The Almighty God to Abram in Ur of the Chaldees, in Genesis 12, has taken us through the sequence of subsequent Biblical passages which relate the family history of the generations of the Patriarchs and tribes of his progeny as they entered Egypt, and later emerged through The Exodus into Sinai, heading eventually towards their Promised Land, guided by Moses and under the direction of The Almighty God.

Consideration of the Levitical cities of refuge which were to be appointed in The Promised Land brought up a discussion regarding guilt, and hence a discussion of Satan, himself, whose name means "the adversary" or "the accuser." Satan has great aspirations, and a comprehensive knowledge of God's Law, which he seeks to use in evading his forthcoming Day of Judgment.

As we have explained on former Studies in this particular sequence, in order to accomplish this, Satan has drafted a legal plan as the basis of the strategy which he is following in seeking this evasion. Realising that the charges against him include using lies and murder, he is limited to one main legal strategy. He must cause God, The Judge to withdraw from the seat of Judgment, a legal possibility which might occur should God have undertaken an unconditional commitment to some portion of mankind which He cannot fulfil. The Bible holds many such unconditional commitments of The Almighty, and all such statements will, in consequence, be subject to Satanic interference and attack in his attempts to evade his fate. Should God fail to fulfil in its entirety any single such commitment to any part of mankind, God will have told a lie. If God fails to bring everything to pass as He has stated, He cannot thereafter retain the moral authority to judge another on the same charge. Satan is desperately assailing all facets of that legal possibility within the worldly field of operations which yet, for a limited time, is still assigned under his power. He seeks to ruin at least one of God's unfolding steps leading to the forthcoming establishment of the Kingdom of God upon the earth.

When we state that the worldly field of operations is still assigned under Satan's power, some might question this, holding in view God's over-riding claim to supreme authority in a world which He created. However, for a moment, we might consider Scriptural backing for that statement. When, in Luke 11:18, Christ stated the question: "If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand?" we might note that Satan is acknowledged to hold such a kingdom in those words, spoken by Our Lord.

When, in recounting the parables of the kingdom, in Matthew 13, Christ used the symbols of the wheat and the tares, He gave the meaning of the tares as those which "an enemy" had sown. That enemy is, as we can see, Satan. Even before this, in the account of the Temptation of Jesus in Matthew 4:8-10, we find that Jesus does not question the authority of Satan over "all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them", for at that time, Jesus had not taken His steadfast route to the Cross, the Grave, and the Resurrection, after which He could state to the eleven disciples addressed in Matthew 28:18 "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth."

Even then, until Christ's Second Advent however, that authority and power being His by right cannot yet be exercised in the world, for He gave a parable in Luke 19:12, concerning a certain nobleman (who) went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return", and a parable likewise in Matthew 21:33-41 which speaks of a husbandman who planted a vineyard and let it out to husbandmen who, in his absence, revealed their murderous rebellion against him in their treatment of his servants and his son, but who would not receive their recompense until the owner returned in person. For the time that the true householder remains absent, they are, even though evil, still in authority in the vineyard and capable of mistreating his servants. Thus it is with Satan's kingdom at this time, prior to Christ's Second Advent.

As we previously discovered, in seeking to disrupt the advent of the Kingdom of God, Satan has four sub-targets which are to comprise the composition of that Kingdom, namely its Monarchy, its Citizenry, The Code of Law forming an agreement between these, and the Kingdom's Domain or area of rulership where it functions, free of alien interference. If Satan is to interfere with the unfolding of God's promises concerning the advent of His Kingdom, he has to attempt attacks on each aspect. He must seek to break the lineage of David's Monarchy, He must seek by various ways, to diminish the population of its citizenry. He must halt the transmission of God's Law Code from each older generation to the youthful one which follows it. He must merge all nations, thus blurring and eliminating their national boundaries, so that jurisdictional borders disappear and thus the haven for nurturing and operating the nucleus of that Kingdom of God by application of His Laws will disappear. This will eventuate if God's Israelitish Dominion "seed-bed" is successfully merged into that operated under Satan's temporary domination, as the "prince of this world" (John 16:11).

Today, we are looking at the third of these aspects of Satan's attack upon God's Kingdom, namely Satan's attacks upon God's Law Code. He must seek, not only to eradicate the beneficial wisdom and regulation imposed by that code of Laws from among at least one generation of Israelites, but he also has the additional target at which to thrust wherein the monarch might be deprived of that contract by reason of having failed to follow the injunction presented to the Israelites by Moses in Deuteronomy 17:14-20. Specifically, in verses 18-20, we read, of those kings who should in after time be appointed over Israelites, that "when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites. And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them. That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel."

Satan can attack the wisest of kings, as we read of King Solomon. In his old age, Solomon's many wives turned his heart from God, although he had the experiences of personal inter-action at the time of the dedication of the Temple in Jerusalem which he had built.

The Historical Books of the Bible present a veritable litany of sinful disregard of God's Laws by The People of Israel, beginning while Moses was still alive. There was the affair of The Golden Calf at Sinai. Then there was the Cosbi affair, which flaunted the breaking of God's strictures against miscegenation, a failure which was only saved by the swift action of Phinehas the Priest. Moses later reminded Israel of Balaam's advice to the Midianites, and the resultant seductive wiles of the women of Midian. There had been the Sin of Korah and his following, who sought, in rebellion, to claim positions not assigned by God. There were plagues among the people of Israel in the Wilderness of Sinai for the sin of gluttony. There was the execution of those witnesses responsible for turning back Israel at their first approach to the Promised Land. When David numbered the people in a later generation, he failed to collect the half-shekel tribute from every person so numbered for The LORD as the law in Exodus 30:13 required, and a plague carried off thousands in consequence.

What shall we say today, when officialdom in government does not allow Government institutions, Parliament, the Courts, or the Schools, to present God's Laws to His people, but instead substitutes man-made laws in place of His Holy Writ. We are hearing with mounting frequency of school-age youth irresponsibly and viciously attacking and even killing others. There is a shattering of morality in consequence of this rebellious humanist mindset. It is totally irresponsible of those in Government to thus deprive youth of the reverend recital of God's Laws within the educational context and the resultant inculcated inward discipline and respect for their fellow human beings which formed the former heritage of our people. It will not do to pass tyrannical oppressive laws in seeking to control conduct and availability of weapons in a desperate attempt to suppress the consequence of this humanistic intransigence, thus to evade the truth.

We will see how matters unfold with the forthcoming Bible Studies, as we find that in God's Law, there is provision even for this present dilemma.
